BEAVER CITY, Neb. -- Barbara K. Vacha, 67, of Beaver City, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2014), at Harlan County Hospital in Alma, Nebraska.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1946, at Norfolk, Nebraska, to Donald and Charlotte (Reeves) Ganser.

She graduated from Albion High School in 1965. She married Donald Vacha on June 3, 1972, and they lived in Albion. She worked at the Westend Grocery Store in Albion before moving to Battle Creek, Nebraska. They moved to Beaver City in 1987, where she worked at the Beaver City Manor as the activities director and later at the Oxford Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Friends and Neighbors Club at Elm Creek and the youth group leader at Methodist Church in Beaver City.

She is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Kelsey Leann Vacha.

Survivors include her husband, Don Vacha of Beaver City; children, Kelly and husband, Casey Thompson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Kasey Vacha and Hannah Clark of Beaver City; brother, Timothy Ganser and Michael Murphy of Los Angeles, California and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Beaver City, with the Rev. Keith Theobald officiating. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery at Madison, Nebraska, on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at 1 p.m.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City.
