Public art proposals are sought

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska arists are being sought to participate in "Illuminating Lincoln: Lighthouse" a public art project modeled after projects such as Chicago's cows, Omaha's J. Does and Lincoln's Tour de Lincoln.

Artists may submit up to three drawings with the lighht bulb as the central concept, by Friday, Aug. 15, for display May 1-September 2015. The light bulbs will be created by Icon Poly in Gibbon, Neb., using fiberglass with a polyurethane resin for an environmentally friendly, strong, long-lasting medium. Artists submitting proposals juried into the project, and who are sponsored, will receive their 6-foot Light Bulb sculpture(s) along with a $500 material stipend. In addition, Artists will receive one third of the final auction (October 2015) price of their sculpture(s).
