BRIGHTON, Colo. -- Chad Christopher Hackenkamp,46, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, died July 26, 2014, at his home in Brighton.

He was born July 17, 1968, to Robert and Suzanne Hackenkamp. He graduated from McCook Senior High in 1986. After high school, he learned the masonry trade from his father. Later, Chad owned his own businesses and also worked for other masonry companies in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.

In 2007, he left Wyoming on his way to New Mexico and got stranded in a snow storm in Denver. He answered a job ad in the paper and that is how he met his wife, Amy.

Chad continued to work in the masonry trade until 2010, when he started driving truck in the Colorado oil fields until his death.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother; grandparents, August and Mamie Hackenkamp and Delbert and Gladys Urling. all of McCook.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Hackenkamp of Brighton, Colorado; daughter, Morgan Hackenkamp of Culbertson, Nebraska; parents, Robert and Suzanne Hackenkamp of Ogallala, Nebraska; sister, Julie and husband Paul Bagley of Cromwell, Connecticut; sister, Ashley Sloan and husband, husband, Guy Leva of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and nieces, Mattison Leva and Kinsey Bagley.

Services will be on Thursday, July 31, 2014, 3 p.m. at St Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook.
