Three injured in two-vehicle accident Monday evening

McCOOK, Neb. -- Two McCook men have been hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident about 5:50 p.m., Monday, two miles west of McCook on Highway 6&34.

David Schwing is listed in stable condition at Community Hospital of McCook; Jonathan Schwing's condition and location was not immediately available..

According to a report by Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Bryan Walter, a 1991 Honda Accord driven by David A. Schwing Sr. of McCook was westbound when it and an eastbound GMC Envoy driven by Kasandra Barber, also of McCook, collided.

The Schwing car came to a rest on the south shoulder facing north; the Barber SUV rested on its top in the eastbound lane of the highway.

David and Jonathan Schwing and Barber were transported to Community Hospital in McCook. Barber was treated and released.

Trooper Walter reported it's unsure if seat belts were in use in either vehicle.

The investigation by Walter and Trooper Red Gans continues. They were assisted on the scene by officers of the Red Willow County Sheriff's Department.
