Judge Randy Butterfield of Ericson, Nebraska, asks 4-H'ers competing in the Furnas County fair horse show in Beaver City Tuesday morning, "How tall is your horse?" Only one of the exhibitors in the youngest age division knew, Butterfield said, revealing that a competitor at another show answered the same question with, "I don't know. Ask my mom." Butterfield encouraged parents -- when they fill out registration information for their 4-H'ers -- to "get your kids involved," so that they know how to answer judges' questions. Junior-age competitors in halter and showmanship classes included Raeanna Thayn and "Booman," Saige Tegtman and "Jay Bar Ray" -- Booman and Jay Bar Ray are miniature horses -- and Aubrey Brown and normal-sized "Sam."
