FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Linda Rae Jacobsen, age 72, of Fort Collins, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
Linda was born in Trenton, Nebraska, on Aug. 7, 1941, to parents James Leroy and Letha Lucile (Williamson) Brown. Linda was one of ten children who grew up on a family farm in Trenton. She attended school in Trenton, graduating from Trenton High School in 1959.
On May 26, 1963, Linda married Robert Lee Jacobsen in Culbertson, Nebraska. The couple later lived in Greeley and Fort Morgan, Colorado, Council Bluffs and Crescent, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born, Alisha and Michele.
Over the years Linda enjoyed traveling to visit family members in the United States and abroad. She loved taking cruises and visited six of the seven continents. Some of the places she traveled to were: Burkina Faso, Benin, Australia, various countries in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. During her later years, Linda spent the winters in Mission, Texas with friends and family. In the summer and fall, Linda also enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brothers and their families in Eagle Rock, Missouri. Linda embraced life and did not let her physical limitations keep her from traveling or taking part in her favorite activities. She excelled at investing in stocks and real estate and she was a competitive card player. Her other past-times included listening to country western music, collecting antiques and going to garage sales.
Linda began working in Omaha, Nebraska, at a savings and loan bank and eventually become a mortgage loan officer. She worked in the finance industry for over 30 years.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Letha Brown; her husband, Robert L. Jacobsen; and her brother, Bryce (Pam) Brown.
Linda is survived by her companion Lyle Stevens of Omaha; daughters, Alisha Jacobsen (Geremie Sawadogo) of Silver Spring, Maryland and Michele (William) Rutledge of Fort Collins; step-daughter, Pamela Jacobsen Loper of Laurel, Mississippi; sisters, Joan Keeney of Norfolk, Nebraska, Vernelle (Dr. Kenneth) Krausnick of Cape Fair, Missouri, Nancy (Calip) Harper of Shell Knob, Missouri, Katherine (Dr. William) Mann of Reno, Nevada and Shelia (Rick) Frazier of Westminster, Colorado; brothers Robert Brown of Trenton, Marion (Sandy) Brown of McCook, Nebraska and Dale (Sarah) Brown, also of McCook; as well as grandchildren, Jordan Sawadogo, Jessica Sawadogo, Connor Rutledge and Kristin Rutledge, and step-grandchildren, Dana (Melanie) Jacobsen, Chase Loper, and Olivia Loper of Laurel, Mississippi, numerous nieces and nephews, step-great-grandchildren, Connor Seth Jacobsen, Carter Jordan Jacobsen and Madeleine Lee Loper of Laurel.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. and the funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will follow at the Trenton Cemetery.
