Music ensemble includes area students

SEWARD, Neb. -- Bells will ring and the music will swing in three spring concerts at Concordia University, Nebraska, that will include four area students.

First, the University Concert Band and Brass Ensemble gave a joint concert on Monday, April 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. The Spring Jazz Fest will open at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in the Weller Hall auditorium. Finally, the Concordia Handbell Choir and Handbell Choir II will perform a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, in the Music Center's recital hall. All concerts are open to the public at no charge.

Student participants from Southwest Nebraska include Andrea Leising, sophomore, Arapahoe, Nebraska, performing with the Handbell Choir; Barbara Leising, junior, Arapahoe, performing with the Handbell Choir; Mary Leising, junior, Arapahoe, performing with the Handbell Choir; and Erin Kelley, senior, Danbury, Nebraska, playing alto saxophone in the Jazz Ensemble.

The Brass Ensemble will explore a wide variety of music, performing four selections for brass.
