Beth Horner, The Steel Wheels headline Buffalo Commons
McCook Nebraska ---- Today, organizers of McCook's Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival announced the lineup for the 18th annual event to be held June 13 and 14, 2014.
A "Wild West Bus Tour" will kick off the event on Friday with a trip to Camp Duke Alexis and a discussion of the Last Buffalo Hunt. Following workshops at both the McCook Library and McCook Community College, a Story and Music Cabaret will be held Friday evening at the Bieroc Café. Featured guest artists will be storyteller Beth Horner, The Steel Wheels Band and poets Matt Mason and Sarah McKinstry --Brown.
On Saturday, a wide variety of open-mic and performance events will be offered throughout the day at the High Plains Museum, Memorial United Methodist Church, the Bieroc Café, Central Elementary School and the George Norris Historical Site.
The two--day festival will culminate on Saturday evening with "How the West Has Fun" featuring headliners The Steel Wheels and storyteller Beth Horner at the historic Fox Theater.
Of this year's lineup, event organizer Cloyd Clark said, "I'm very pleased with this year's performers." Clark added, "We're on our way to another weekend of quality entertainment."
