Larry William Ator

RIO RANCHO, New Mexico -- Larry William Ator, 70, a resident of Rio Rancho, died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2013), in Albuquerque, New Mexico, following a short illness.

After graduation in 1961 from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, he joined the US Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1968, earned a CPA certification and began a career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. and other accounting firms. Following various business positions in McCook, Nebraska, and starting a family there with Marjory Warner Ator, Larry trained as a farrier in Oklahoma and returned to New Mexico where he spent several years caring for horses throughout the state. He later returned to college to study information technology and completed his business career in corporate accounting and IT professions.

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Ator of Albuquerque, and his sister, Linda Bright of Houston.

Survivors include his mother, Beverly Ator of Albuquerque; children, Carrie Fisher and husband, Chad Fisher of Imperial, Nebraska and Cathy Hoffart and husband Chad Hoffart of Norfolk, Nebraska; sisters, Sharon Seeloff and husband, Phil of Chandler, Arizona, Carol Ashley and husband, Steven, Judith Grady and husband, Michael and Marcia Paz, all of Albuquerque and six grandchildren.
