McCOOK, Nebraska -- With 23 vendors already committed and more firms and organizations signing up every day, an interesting and multi-faceted array of products and services is awaiting the crowds which will gather for the 2014 McCook Home & Leisure Show.

The popular Home Show, which debuted on the McCook scene almost 30 years ago, moved to the new, $10 million McCook Community College Events Center in 2013 and will be returning to the spacious new facility for the 2014 show, which will take place on three straight days: Friday, February 7, 2014; Saturday, February 8, 2014; and Sunday, February 9, 2014.

"We already have a top-notch bunch of booths and we expect many more in the days to come," said Tacie Fawver, the executive director of the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce and the person in charge of Home Show arrangements. "We will accept vendors up until the day of the show, but, of course, we would appreciate it if those wanting to take part would get hold of us as soon as possible so we can do a better job of advertising their participation," Tacie said.

To sign up for the show, all that is required is a call to Tacie or her sidekick, Linda Thieben, at the Chamber office. Their number is 308-345-3200 and they are in the office or close by Monday through Friday from 9 to 5. If it is more convenient for prospective vendors, those interested in having booths at the Home Show may e-mail the Chamber by typing in: tacie@aboutmccook.com.

The hours for the McCook Home & Leisure Show will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 7; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, February 8; and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, February 9. As usual, sandwiches, sweet treats and other food and drink choices will be available for Home Show guests from Marilyn and Gene Anderson, the owners and operators of Catering Plus.

Out of the main floor of the spacious gymnasium, the Home & Leisure Show visitors will discover a variety of wares from the following firms, listed in alphabetical order:

ABC Seamless, Bath Planet, Bristol Windows, CTE Construction & Roofing, doTERRA International, Dr. Scrubs and More, Energy Wise, Inc., High Plains Radio, Hughes 4 Legislature, Inspired by Angels/Larisa O'Brien Photography, Kurtzer's LLC, McCook Economic Development Housing, Origami Owl Custom Jewelry, Pinpoint Communications, Premier Designs Jewelry, Scentsy, Talon Steel & Eagle First Roofing, Thrasher Basement Systems, Tillotson Enterprises, Inc., VK Electronics and Wardcraft Homes.

The McCook Home & Leisure Show tradition was born in the early 1980s when a promotion company brought the concept to town. After a few years, the Chamber staff and members started doing the Home shows themselves, with Jody Curtis and LeAnn Roth serving as the first directors. Linda Frank became the director in 1989, and served in that capacity for 23 years before turning the responsibility over to Tacie, Linda and Chamber volunteers last year.

"As time goes by the McCook Home & Leisure Show is destined to gets bigger and better," Tacie said. "The College Events Center is a great venue. We could hold up to 80 exhibitors. Wow! Can you imagine that. It's not only a good way for businesses and organizations to show off their stuff, it's a good, community-building event for McCook. We invite people from near and far to join us for a great weekend of show-and-tell. Mark Feb. 7-8-9 on you calendar. We would love to have you join us."
