Community dinner set for St. Patrick Church
McCOOK, Nebraska -- The holiday season should be full of joy and hope for everyone, but sadly, it can be a particularly difficult time for people struggling with loneliness or financial burdens.
In order to spread some good cheer, St. Patrick Catholic Church has announced its Ninth Annual Community Christmas Dinner on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members will serve a traditional holiday meal, including ham, roasted turkey, smoked turkey, potatoes, vegetables, salads, rolls, dessert and iced tea or coffee. Seating for the dinner will be in the church's basement, located at 409 East F Street in McCook.
While the meal will be served in the church, the announcement insists there will be "no preaching," but does say that there will be entertainment and door prizes during the meal for those who wish to attend.
While the dinner is open to the public, the church is asking that interested persons RSVP before Jan. 2. The church also will deliver meals to shut-ins, or provide round-trip transportation to and from the event; please call 345-6734 to accept their invitation to take part in the meal or for more information.
