Veterans invited to share with kids

McCOOK, Nebraska -- McCook Elementary is extending an invitation to area veterans to join them on Monday, Nov. 11 as students celebrate Veterans Day at McCook Elementary School.

Veterans Day is intended to thank and honor all those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces and to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated.

If you are a veteran, or have a veteran in your family that would be interested in coming to school to share, call the school at 345-5681 or send an email to Linda Wood (lwood@mccookbison.org). Assembly will start at 9 a.m. to recognize all veterans. After the assembly, veterans who are willing are invited to visit with students in the classroom, speak about their experiences, share memorabilia, and answer questions. Veterans Day will be more memorable for students if they actually meet people who are veterans and hear their personal stories, Wood said.
