'Night on the Hill' brings in more than $15,000
McCOOK, Nebraska -- Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Hillcrest Nursing Home at the recent annual "Night On The Hill" event.
Guests were entertained by Nashville recording artist, Cindy Boehler of Alma, Nebraska, who was sponsored by State Farm Insurance, Linda Maiden Agency. Abby Soncksen, daughter of Mike and Lynn Soncksen and a ninth grade student at Hayes Center Public Schools, opened the evening playing background music on the piano.
Tantalizing appetizers for the event were prepared under the direction of Hillcrest's Dietary Director, Rebecca Holst, with the delightful desserts prepared by Shellie Winder of Purple Moon Cookery. The evening was highlighted by a few heartfelt words from Ms. Holst, who is the most recent recipient of the Hillcrest Homegrown scholarship funds.
Committee members presented 20 amazing silent auction packages, a wine grab bag and a chance to win Husker football tickets provided by First Central Bank, as well as, a $50 gas card from Casey's General Stores. John Clapp, McCook, was the lucky winner. Event sponsorships along with these additional evening activities helped the Foundation raise $15, 465. The proceeds are used to fund the Hillcrest Homegrown scholarship program.

Two diligent and dedicated committees worked to make the evening a success. The Auction Committee included: Kristi Daum, Lynn Driml-Pinkal, Linda Graff, Pam Harsh, Linda Maiden, Sherri Stang, and Vicky Young. The Steering Committee included: Virginia Brown, Pam Harsh, Colinda Nappa, Tamra Neel, Amanda Randolph, Friday Reiners and Ethyl Siegfried.
Special assistance was provided by McCook Students: Brenleigh Daum, Drew Daum, Greg Gaston, and JoAnn and James Neel.
Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation Board members include: Jerry Beckenhauer, President, Kent Craw, V-President, Janice Bamesberger, Secretary Treasurer, Jack Clark, Randy Dean, Jeannette Miller, and Pete Graff, Board Emeritus.
Acknowledging the support of the community at large and the guests in attendance, Foundation Board President, Jerry Beckenhauer, quoted Sir James M. Barne who once said, "Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves." Beckenhauer stated, "I fully believe that the sun will be shining on each and every one of you in all your days ahead!"
