Esther 'Nancy' Meins

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- Esther "Nancy" Meins, 65, of North Platte, died Friday (July 19, 2013), at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Jan. 24, 1948, at Kearney, Nebraska, to LeRoy Melvin and Darlene Velma Tolle DeVall. She grew up in Bloomington, Nebraska, where she attended school. She worked in Oregon before she married Doug Meins in Modesto, California. They made their home in California. She returned to the McCook, Nebraska, area following his death. In 2003 she moved to North Platte, where she attended the Frontier House and lived at the Pawnee Retirement Center, Liberty House and the North Platte Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents, LeRoy and Darlene DeVall; four sisters, Darlene Nelson, Patty Snell, Mary Osborn and Penny Havel; and six brothers-in-law, Delbert Nelson, Glen Snell, Larry Osborn, Ray Havel, David Fahrenbruch and Norvin Griffing.

Survivors include three sisters, Rose Griffing, of Culbertson, Nebraska, Delores Fahrenbruch, of McCook and Cindy (Jerry) Mills, of Bolivar, New York; a daughter, Tammy Meins, of Oregon; many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Funeral service are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore in North Platte with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney.

Visitation is 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore.
