Damage from a car driven on wet concrete recently poured on East H Street extends several blocks and will delay what would have been a Monday opening. The damage was initially estimated to cost more than $40,000 to repair and McCook police officers responding to the incident said the woman driving the vehicle would likely be cited, considering the two barricades she maneuvered around.

  • Cited and hopefully will need to pay repair costs instead of sticking taxpayers

  • I'm interested to hear what she had to say after her nice driving.

  • I would hope she was cited for her stupidity. Too bad that she probably won't have to pay for her damages. Us tax payers will be stuck paying for someone elses stupidity.

  • Will likely be cited? I suspect this is pretty clear cut and doesn't require much of a thought process on behalf of whether she should or shouldn't be. To know what she was thinking is priceless ... the damage however, is not.

  • Well I'll be, this is the FIRST time i've heard Dennis being concerned about taxpayers!

  • @remington-81 am69001

this project is protected by insurance either by the driver or the contractor... hopefully the driver, driving past two barriers, still couldn't figure it out? Sure hope our local prosecutors don't plead it down to just stupidity.

  • Bill, I know I have spoken out about before supporting keeping the mill levy for the city at the same level since 2001 and at reducing the land line phone tax. Those are just two issues that come to mind about being concerned about taxpayers. I am sure there are others and if the lady has insurance they will hopefully cover the repair costs.
