'Focal beauty'

Friday, June 28, 2013

Bruce Hoffman of Common Scents, McCook, Nebraska, plants a bur oak tree in front of the new City of McCook city offices and fire/police departments Friday, June 21. The tree was purchased and donated by the family of Otto Nilsson, in memory of the McCook business owner who died March 10, 2013. Hoffman also planted a second bur oak, selected last spring -- on Arbor Day, April 26 -- by MNB employees to help with landscaping efforts at the new city facility. Shelby Haag, who is sales and marketing manager at McCook National Bank, said, "We selected the bur oak for its long-term life, stability and focal beauty." Selecting the tree at the Common Scents field tree nursery were, from left, Jenny Ryan, City of McCook; Brian Esch, president and CEO, McCook National Bank; Haag; and Mary Pate, City of McCook Tree Advisory Board.
