ARAPAHOE, Nebraska --Robert Leon Dickmeyer, 84, of Bloomfield, Nebraska, formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska, died Monday (June 3, 2013), at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Center.

He was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Furnas County, Nebraska, to Henry F. and Rose Clara (Nieman) Dickmeyer.

He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1945. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in September of 1951 and served until September of 1953. On Aug. 1, 1954, he married Dorothy L. Petermann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gosper County, Nebraska. They made their home north of Arapahoe and farmed there for many years. In 1965, they purchased the Petermann farm in Gosper County. In 2008, he moved to Bloomfield to be closer to his daughter Debra due to failing health.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska, and also a member of the American Legion Post No. 96 of Arapahoe, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; brother, Richard Dickmeyer and sister, Eleanor Schoenfeld.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Ann Cayler of Bloomfield; son, Danny Lee Dickmeyer of Golden, Colorado; "adopted" daughter, Barbara Vauri Henre of Norfolk, Nebraska; brother, J.D. Dickmeyer of Stafford, Arizona; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe with military rites presented by the Arapahoe American Legion Post No. 96.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church
