Free fans available to low-income individuals

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The McCook office of Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska has free fans available to low-income individuals and families.

Barb Ostrum, community service coordinator of Mid-Nebraska's McCook office, said there is some paperwork involved. Call her office, (308) 345-1187, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., to make an appointment to participate in the fan program.

Ostrum will have fans available while supplies lasts.

Ostrum will need identification, proof of income and address verification. Annual income guidelines are: $12,960 per year for one person; $17,553 a household of two; $22,147 for a household of three; $26,740 for a household of four; $31,334 for a household of five; $35,929 for a household of six; $40,521 for a household of seven; $45,115 for a household of eight; $49,708 for a household of nine; and $54,302 for a household of ten. For each additional household member, add $4,594.

The income guidelines may be waived due to extenuating circumstances such as age and/or illness. Contact Ostrum for more information.

Ostrum buys the fans locally, from D&S Hardware in McCook.

The fan distribution program is funded through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' "Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program."
