Churches plan holy week activities

"As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem." (Luke 9:51)

The writers of all four Gospels record Jesus' procession into Jerusalem on what would come to be known as "Palm Sunday" because the people lining the streets welcomed Jesus by throwing palm fronds on the ground in front of him.

Thus begins the holiest week on the Christian calendar as followers commemorate the final week of Jesus' earth-bound ministry.

Christian congregations in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas have a rich history of time-honored traditions that revisit the events of that week. Everyone is invited to attend one or more of the following events:
