OXFORD, Nebraska -- Tommy E. Wheeler, 51, of Oxford, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2013), at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born Nov. 25, 1961, at Alamosa, Colorado, to Ernest S. and Geneva R. (Kerchner) Wheeler.
He graduated from Watonga High School in Watonga, Oklahoma, in 1981. He moved to Oxford and worked at the Oxford Cheese Factory. He married Kandy Knipschild on July 4, 1987 at Beaver City, Nebraska. After the Oxford Cheese Factory closed, he worked for Stewart's Tree Service, of Holdrege, Nebraska and Furnas County Farms at Oxford. He has worked for Holdrege Irrigation, in Holdrege, for the last 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Wheeler; brother, Leonard Wheeler; sister, Kathy McWilliams, and brother-in-law, Randy Knipschild.
He is survived by his wife, Kandy Wheeler of Oxford; mother, Geneva Wheeler of Edison, Nebraska; step- daughter, Justine Cassidy and fiancÚ, Jason McMurray of Hastings, Nebraska; brother, Randy Wheeler and wife, Cathy of Edison, Nebraska; sisters, Charlene Campbell and husband, Frank and Sandy Smith and Brian Scheske, all of Edison; mother-in-law, Freda Marble of Oxford; father-in-law, Gib Knipschild and wife, Joan of Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Funeral services are Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church, in Oxford, with the Rev. Dale Hedstrom and Jane Blume officiating. Inurnment is at the Union Cemetery at Beaver City.
There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation was chosen.
