PALISADE, Nebraska-- On Jan. 30, 2013, Violet Louise Borges went to meet her loving Lord and Savior, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Violet died at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton, Nebraska.

She was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on Jan. 22, 1946, to Frank and Nida (Edwards) Striker. She grew up in Grand Island, attending school until age 16. She married and to that union five children were born: Terry, Theresa, Twylla, Taby and Tim. On Sept. 4, 1972, she was married to Louis "Sonny" Borges and three more children joined the family: Martin, Cindy and Bob. To the union of Violet and Louis a child, Louis II, was born make the home full with nine children.

Violet worked at the El Dorado manor for many years, before she and Louis bought a business in Palisade in 1994, calling it Vi's Last Resort Bar and Grill. The couple sold the bar in 2008. Vi then worked for Walmart in McCook until her health failed.

Vi enjoyed playing pool and qualified to play in the National APA Tourney in Las Vegas. She like to golf and play bingo. She was a member of the Church of God in Trenton.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Theresa Schnoor and a brother, Harold Fattergild.

She is survived by her husband, Louis of Palisade; children, Taby Borges, Tim Schooner, Twylla and husband, Jim Robinson of Trenton, Louis and wife, Samantha Borges, Terry Schnook, Martin and wife, Becky Borges, all of Grand Island; Cindy Borges, Bob and wife, Dawn Borges of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, John and Jacob Viox, Eric and Carley Lucas, M. Borges II, Hunter and Emily Borges; great-grandchildren, Konner Lucas; sister, Sharene Maske and husband, Terry of Grand Island.

Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Church of God in Trenton with Pastor Timothy Roberts. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date .

Visitation will be on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Home in Trenton .

Memorials may be left in Vi's name at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Home in Trenton.
