Area burglaries on sheriff's radar

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Investigators are seeking information pertaining to a pair of burglaries, one occurring in Red Willow County and the other in Hitchcock County.

According to the Hitchcock County Sheriff's Department, during the early morning hours of Oct. 8, 2012, one or more individuals forcibly entered a storage unit at the M & M Storage Center located on U.S. Highway 6 and 34 in Culbertson, Nebraska.

Items taken from the storage unit consisted of fishing tackle and hunting supplies. The total loss as a result of this crime exceeds $2,000.

The second burglary report, on file with the Red Willow County Sheriff's Office, occurred during the late evening hours of Saturday Jan. 19, 2012, or early morning hours of Sunday Jan. 20. During that incident, one or more individuals broke into a leather shop business in Danbury, Nebraska.

Taken from the business was a laptop computer, camera, earrings and leather work tools. The total loss as a result of this crime is undetermined.

The Red Willow County Sheriff's Department encourages citizens to be aware of what is going on in their neighborhood and to become involved by reporting suspicious activities.
