Diane Lyons, current secretary, nominated Teresa Thomas for secretary and Thomas was unanimously elected.

Before the meeting, the oath of office was administered by Superintendent Grant Norgaard to Bredvick, Lyons and Thomas, who were re-elected to the school board in the November elections.

In other business, the school board unanimously approved a cooperative agreement with Southwest Public Schools that allows Southwest students to compete with the McCook swimming and diving team at NSAA competitions.

McCook Public Schools has agreed to this arrangement in the past. It will not affect classification, Norgaard said, because of the small number of Southwest students - about five to seven - competing and there is only one Class, Class A, in this NSAA event.

He also added that there may be more cooperative agreements like this one coming in the near future.

McCook Schools Business Manager Rick Haney said during Administrator Comments that expenditures and revenue are on track in the budget, with one third of expenses and revenue received and spent as projected.

According to the budget given to the board, the general fund 2013 budget is $14,920,631.00. Of that, $4,679,766,51 has been disbursed to date, with $1,093,499.72 disbursed this month. This represents 31.36 percent of the general fund budget and leaves $10,240,864 in the budget.

From the depreciation fund, the starting balance was $788,047.01 and $62,977 disbursed this month.
