City Sales tax receipts show continued growth

McCOOK, Nebraska -- City of McCook 1 percent sales tax receipts for the first quarter of the 2012-13 fiscal year totaled $31,704 more than what was collected during the prior year.

October and December 2012 receipts each came in more than $10,000 ahead of prior year, with September 2012 receipts posting a rare $819 decrease when compared to September 2011 receipts.

Similarly, the additional 1/2 percent sales tax receipts for the first quarter, which is split evenly between LB840 economic development funds and infrastructure improvements, came in at $15,852 more than the prior year.

One percent and 1/2 percent sales tax receipts are trending ahead of their budgeted revenue amount by a combined $29,228 through the first quarter.

The City of McCook budgeted fiscal year runs from October to September. The first quarter of October, November and December, reflects receipts from purchases made in August, September and October, respectively.
