One killed in head-on

PALISADE, Nebraska -- An Indianola man was killed and his wife seriously injured in a head-on collision Christmas morning.

James Sughroue, 80, was dead at the scene. His wife, Leah, was listed in critical condition this morning after being flown to a Kearney hospital.

According to a preliminary report, an eastbound pickup truck crossed the center line, slid on the ice and struck the westbound Sughroue pickup truck at 11:39 a.m. 5 miles east of Palisade Tuesday. Neither of the couple were wearing seatbelts.

No information on the other vehicle, nor injuries to other occupants to the two vehicles was available this morning.

Services for James Sughroue will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, also at St. Catherine's.
