Assistant director named for Southwest Public Health Department

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department announces the selection of Denise Ringenberg as their Assistant Director.

"Denise and I worked together as peer department managers for another agency several years ago. I was ecstatic when she accepted a position with SWNPHD and later as Assistant Director. Her marketing and public relations skills will be an asset for our organization," states Myra Stoney, Director. "Denise has done an outstanding job in taking over many different programs and most especially the Public Information Officer duties."

She has an extensive background in marketing and fund raising. Denise's career includes positions as Director of Marketing/Public Relations for Northeast Community College, Development /Marketing Director at Hastings Museum/Lied IMAX Theatre, IMAX Theater Manager at Henry Doorly Zoo and Community Economic Director for Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District in Norfolk. In McCook, she served as Foundation Director for Community Hospital, Housing Director for McCook Economic Development and Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation Director.

Denise is a certified Radon Measurement Specialist and manages the radon program. She also coordinates POOL COOL, health fairs, tobacco cessation, smoke free housing & parks, clean indoor air, and skin scope. Denise is the Public Information Officer for SWNPHD and can assist area PIO's in emergency situations. Learning the back-up responsibilities of the director position and assuming a larger role in marketing and public relations will be added to her current duties.

A native of McCook, Denise has several family members in the area: husband Kurt, son Mack Alspaugh, parents Angus Garey and Jerda Garey-Vickers, and sister Pam Gaston.
