TRENTON, Nebraska -- Nancy Gayle Brown, age 75 of Trenton, died at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton on Dec. 13, 2012. She was born in San Diego, California, on July 11, 1937, to Gale and Doris (Jewhl) Haase. Nancy was raised by her grandmother after their mother died when she was 18 months old. Nancy went to grade school in Stratton, Nebraska, moving to California and graduating from Hayward High School. She returned to Nebraska to Kearney State College graduating with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1960. Nancy taught home economics and social studies at Trenton.

On Oct.28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Brown in Raton, New Mexico. The family moved across the United States due to Bob's work. Nancy, along with being a homemaker, also substitute taught in Houston, Texas. The couple retired to Trenton from Texas in 1994. Nancy kept busy teaching and working at the Trenton High School, later at the Lakeside Central and at Hitchcock County School. She was a member of the Hitchcock County Women's Club. To keep busy, Nancy volunteered for special events and athletic events, taking tickets. She and Bob enjoyed traveling, taking many bus tours in the United States and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Nancy is survived by her husband, Bob, of Trenton; one daughter, Rodra Brown of Houston; two sons, Byron Brown of Houston and Calvin Brown of Wichita Falls, Texas and a brother, Tom Haase of Lake City, Texas

Funeral services will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Nebraska, on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, with Pastor John Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery, Trenton, Nebraska. Memorials may be left in Nancy's name to the Susan Koman Cancer Fund or to the Nebraska Heart Institute at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.

Visitation is today in Trenton at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
