Two Indianolans win top national FFA honor

INDIANAPOLIS -- At the 2012 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, two Southwest FFA members earned the American FFA Degree. Matthew Oltmer was present for the ceremony and received the degree as Tiffany (Quaduor) Herrman earned the degree but was not able to attend.

Traveling with the Southwest FFA chapter, Matthew was able to participate in the 2012 American Degree Ceremony held in Lucas Oil Stadium. Matt is the son of Lauren and Kay Oltmer of Indianola. Matt was able to attend the American Degree reception on Friday night of the convention and attend with his mother Kay Oltmer, and Aunt Donna Kircher. Matt has worked many hours on the family farm and operated his own farming project. Matthew is a former officer of the Southwest FFA Chapter and graduated Southwest in 2010.

Tiffany (Quaduor) Herrman is the daughter of Rob and Kathy Quaduor of Danbury. With her upcoming marriage, she was not able to attend the National Convention but was still able to receive the American Degree. Tiffany worked hours on the family farm and worked custom hours for other local producers. Tiffany is a former Southwest FFA president and graduated in 2010.

The American FFA Degree is the highest award the National FFA organization can award. It is awarded annually at the National FFA Convention each year to the top 1 percent of members nation wide. Tiffany and Matt's FFA Adviser is Les Roggenkamp.
