DeGroff's Santa

Friday, November 30, 2012

(Photo)
Courtesy photo Many children visited Santa in the basement of DeGroff's Department Store in McCook, such as Carla (Myers) Winters, left, 10-years-old in this picture and her 6-year-old sister, Cathy (Myers) Heskett. Cathy wanted to share the picture with Gazette readers, adding that she and her sister always looked forward to seeing Santa at DeGroff's. "You'd be sitting on this throne with him and be able to look at all the toys. They had the most unique toys." The girls are the daughters of the late Adair and Maxine Myers.

DeGroffs had the best Santa Claus of anyone. I have pictures taken with Santa of my son in 1961 and again of his son(my grandson) in 1990.

They are treasured pictures.
