McCOOK, Nebraska -- Several have been hired, but nurses are still needed at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Deb Stoney, director of nursing at Hillcrest, told the Board of Trustees at its regular meeting Tuesday that two full-time and two part-time nurses have been hired, who are taking classes at McCook Community College.
When asked by Trustee president Jim Hall how many she would like to hire, Stoney answered that it would be nice to have three LPNS and three RNs per shift. Right now, there are two per shift. She added that a competing facility has contacted several current Hillcrest employees for employment.
Other recent hires at Hillcrest include those in dietary and a social services director.
Colinda Nappa, Hillcrest administrator, told the board that she is updating the employee handbook and gave copies to the board on tentative changes she's made.
These include policy changes on referral bonuses, sick leave, attendance and payroll advances.
Other business noted at the meeting included:
* census report: as of Tuesday, there are 91 residents at Hillcrest. Of those, 15 are Medicare, 42 are Medicaid and 33 are private pay. The Assisted Living is full, with 10 residents.
* The board unanimously approved paying $7,300 to Radec Construction, the final payment, for the recent construction at the facility. Radec was the contractor for the project.
* the payment of $250,000 has been received for the sale of bed licenses, Nappa said.
The board closed the opened meeting and re-convened in closed session, to discuss personnel issues.
