DENVER, Colorado -- Nine students active in Phi Beta Lambda at McCook Community College recently attended the National Fall Leadership Conference in Denver.

The keynote speaker was Al Duncan, an award-winning youth advocate, publisher, and internationally recognized authority on soft skills. Duncan is the author of four books, including the bestseller, "My Success Journal for Young People."

He is also the recipient of the President's Call to Service Award and the National PTA Life Achievement Award for his work in youth development and empowerment. Mr. Duncan spoke on leadership, motivation, personal discipline, and the ethics of making good choices.

Students attended workshops on leadership development, presentation skills, chapter fund-raising, professional dress, and networking.

The chapter also was able to tour the Hammond Candy Factory while in Denver.
