NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- The Mid-Plains Community College board of governors plan a work session and regular meeting Wednesday in Room 200 of the W.W. Wood Building on the north campus of North Platte Community College.

The work session begins at 4:30 p.m., and no action will be taken; the regular meeting is 6:30 p.m.

Items in the work session include the National Legislative Summit, a birthing simulator for the nursing program, a welding certification update, new programs and emphases, and setting a date for a board retreat to discuss student success and board self-assessment.

The regular session includes a closed session for negotiations, personnel and litigation.

Items on the regular agenda include paying $62,746.87 as one-fifth of the 2013 Nebraska Community College Association dues, moving the board meeting date from Dec. 26 to Dec. 19 because of the holiday, the May 22 board meeting to May 29 because of a conflict with the HLC Strategy Forum and the Sept. 26 board meeting to Sept. 12 because of the state budget deadline.

The board will consider policy changes to change various titles, including the Area Associate Vice President of Administrative Services to Area Business Officer; Area Vice President of Instructional Services and Student Development to Area Vice President of Instruction; Area Dean of Student Life to Campus Dean of Student Life; Area Director of Institutional Advancement to Area Director of Development; and Area Director of Public Information and Marketing to Area Associate Vice President of Marketing, Public Information and Development.

The board also will hear reports from the auditors, on enrollment, student success and retention and the president's report.

The next meeting is Dec. 19 in North Platte.
