St. Patrick's math-a-thon raises $2,689

Every year the students at St. Patrick's raise money for St. Jude's Hospital. This year St. Patrick students raised a total of $2,689.

St. Jude's Math-a-thon teaches students the importance of helping others as well as helping them improve their math skills. St. Jude's treats the world's sickest children battling cancer and other deadly diseases for free -- no family ever pays St. Jude's for anything.

St. Jude's is researching the world's deadliest pediatric diseases, doing research that no one else is doing and sharing the findings with hospitals all over the world.

Today millions of children around the world are benefiting from 50 years of St. Jude's discoveries.

Top money raisers were Adam Kain 3rd, $327; Brayden Kool 4th, $220; Jamie Steinmetz 2nd, $145; Liviya Wier 4th, $145; Maria Schaben 4th, $136; Mira DaCosta 1st, $125; Maddie Barger 3rd, $125; and Torrington Ford 4th, $123.

Third grade and fifth grade brought in the most money and each class played a 30 minute basketball game against the McCook Community College Men's Basketball team at the new McCook College Event Center.
