McCOOK, Nebraska -- Roger T. Miller of McCook passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was 82 years old.

Roger was born on Feb. 27, 1930, at Marion, Nebraska, to German/Irish parents, Theodore H. and Gertrude (Kircher) Miller. He attended Marion Grade School and graduated from Danbury High School in 1947. From there he attended one year at McCook Junior College.

Roger entered the US Air Force on June 28, 1951, and served overseas at Gander Field in Goose Bay, Labrador, Sanderstrom Fjord in Greenland, and returned to the states at Pope Field at Fayetteville, North Carolina during the Korean War. His most significant duty assignment was (TAC) 651st Commander Squadron Operations. He was honorably discharge on June 25, 1955.

He was united in marriage to Wanda Marie Wright on June 5, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin, Kansas. To this union three children were born. They made their home on the family farm near Marion until their retirement in 1996 at which time they moved to McCook.

Roger was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Family Frolic Square Dance Club, McCook Elk's Lodge, and Danbury McDonald-Ryan American Legion Post No. 276. He served on the Danbury-Marion Cemetery Board for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ted and Gertie Miller; and son, Douglas Miller on May 16, 2012.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wanda Miller of McCook; and daughters, Karen J. Miller and husband, Russ Gillenwater, of Round Rock, Texas and Susan Miller of Takoma Park, Maryland.

Memorials may be given in his name to the St. Patrick's Cemetery Pavement Fund.

Visitation will be at Carpenter Breland on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, from 7 p.m., with family present, until time of Rosary which will be recited at 8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Danbury-Marion Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Military Honors.
