McCOOK, Nebraska -- Christmas decorations are up in the stores, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and the holiday season is upon us. That means it's time for the McCook Community College Theater semi-annual production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

This Christmas tale of the redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge (Don Harpst) by the visits from the Ghost of Jacob Marley (Bryce Osterman), the Ghost of Christmas Past (Phil Lyons), the Ghost of Christmas Present (Jeri Lynn Karr) and the Ghost of Christmas Future (Roger Stupka) will be performed at the Fox Theater Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at 7:30 p.m.

The production is part of the Town/Gown Initiative, a project designed to bring the college and the community closer together. The show is also a fund-raiser for the Fox Theater Renovation Project. Tickets are $5 and available at Schmick's Market, the college Office of Student Life, or at the door the nights of performance.

A Christmas Carol features a full set designed and built by Dr. Richard Tubbs, former vice president of McCook Community College. The set was painted by Rick Johnson's MCC art students, with help from Dian Trail. The costumes are by Pam Messinger. She is assisted by Jeri Lynn Karr.

Sue Watts is the director. Marie Coffey is director of music.

This marks the 12th production of this every-other-year McCook Community College tradition.

Don Harpst, Phil Lyons, Cheryl Scott, Lisa Ellis and Elliot Tapia have been with the show since it was first produced in 1993. Dorothy Stevens has also been with the production for many years. And each production brings in many new people.
