McCOOK, Nebraska -- The McCook School Board will be asked to approve bids to re-surface the high school track and adding speech class as a graduation requirement, at its regular meeting Monday, 6:30 p.m. at the Junior High cafeteria.
Bids received include those from Fisher Tracks Inc. of Boone, Iowa, at $130,000; Hellas Construction of Austin, Texas, at $119,917 and Midwest Tennis and Track of Denison, Iowa, at $112,218.
The board will also be asked to approve the addition of one semester (five credit) speech class requirement for the graduating class of 2017. Total graduation class will remain at 230.
Other action the board will be requested to approve is moving the high school commencement ceremonies to the McCook Community College Event Center; remodeling plans at Central Elementary and to move forward with seeking bids for the construction of a metal building at the McCook Learning Center, south of the high school (formerly the Armory).
The board will also hear a presentation from Rex Nelson of the McCook Economic Development Corp. and others, on a possible McCook Skate park and poetry from Pam Wolford's class.
The board will give administrative reports, including school visit and assessment and an audit report from MPS Business Manager Rick Haney.
