Marine Corps birthday

Dear Editor,

Once again, it is time to celebrate the birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps. Our Continental Congress established this branch of the military on Nov. 10, 1775.

To recognize the 237 years of service by these proud "jarheads," we are planning an opportunity for Marines and friends to gather for some interaction on this historic date.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, we can meet at the Kelley Creek Pub (Elks building) at 905 E. Seventh Street, here in McCook.

Steve will have the NU/Penn State football game on at 2:30, so we can watch the end of the game, gather up about 5 and chip in on a pizza order for a 6 p.m. meal. After the pizza, etc., we'll have our birthday cake ritual and read the U.S. Marine Corps Commandant's annual message.
