Coat Closet collection, give-away next week

Friday, November 2, 2012

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Baby, it's cold outside!

Well, maybe not yet, but it will be.

It's time to clean last year's winter coats out of the closet, and donate them to McCook's annual "Coat Closet" winter clothing distribution.

The community's 31st annual "Coat Closet and Winter Clothing Give-Away" will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7, 8 and 9, in McCook, Nebraska's Memorial Auditorium, at West Fifth and C streets.

The give-away is available to anyone -- living in or out of McCook -- who has a need to dress themselves or someone they love warmly for the winter.

Winter coats, hats, mittens and gloves, snow boots, overalls and coveralls, sweaters and sweatshirts of all sizes -- in clean, wearable condition -- can be taken to the City Auditorium Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 5 and 6, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The distribution will follow this schedule:

Wednesday -- From noon until 7 p.m.

Thursday -- From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Friday -- From 8 a.m. until noon.

The Coat Closet project is made possible by Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska and Southwest Nebraska community, and by City of McCook Mayor Dennis Berry and McCook city council members for the use of the City Auditorium.
