759 new University of Nebraska Medical Center students participate in ceremonies to mark the beginning of their professions
The University of Nebraska Medical Center recently held ceremonies in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and Norfolk to recognize 759 new students in pharmacy, nursing, medicine, dentistry and allied health. The symbolic ceremony signifies the beginning of a health career.
The white coats were paid for in part with donations from UNMC alumni, faculty, and friends.
Below are the colleges, hometowns and names of the students from the Southwest Nebraska area:
College of Medicine -- The UNMC College of Medicine held its White Coat ceremony for 132 students in Omaha: Beaver City, Michael Powell; Eustis, Weston Keller; Hayes Center, Audra Kennedy.
College of Nursing -- The UNMC College of Nursing held its Nightingale White Coat ceremony for 317 students in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and Norfolk.
