McCOOK, Nebraska -- The deadline to compete in the radon awareness poster contest sponsored by the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department is Wednesday, Oct. 17.
Youngsters ages nine to 14 who live within the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department district are eligible to participate, according to Denise Ringenberg, SWNPHD health educator. These counties are Chase, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Hayes, Hitchcock, Perkins and Red Willow.
Four top winning posters will be selected and forwarded to the Nebraska state competition. Past poster winners can be found on the web site www.swhealth.ne.gov.
Prizes include a bicycle, a $75 sports gift card, a bowling party for five and a mystery prize. Every participant will receive recognition.
The SWNPHD website (http://www.swhealth.ne.gov) has artwork submission forms, poster contest criteria and national information.
