McCOOK, Nebraska -- A housing development map presented to the McCook City Council recently may provide foresight to citizens curious about what their neighborhood will look like in the future.

As part of a Community Housing Report presented to councilors, Monday evening, McCook Economic Development Director Rex Nelson presented the map, which identified areas of McCook ideal for housing development or rehabilitation. The information is part of an ongoing collaboration between MEDC and city staff to address what has been referred to as a critical housing shortage in the McCook area.

The map focuses on five catagories:

Vacant land available for new housing development

Areas in need of housing demolition or replacement

Housing rehabilitation only areas

Areas in need of a combination of housing rehabilitation, demolition or replacement

Housing demolition only areas
