New priest offers introduction to Catholicism course

Friday, August 31, 2012

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The Rev. Andrew Heaslip, newly arrived associate pastor at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, East Fourth and F, will become a familiar face through the coming year as he instructs interested adults in the "Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults," an introduction to the Catholic Faith.

The course will cover several aspects of the Catholic faith -- the Creed, the Sacraments, the Christian moral life and the Christian prayer life.

"We are seeking to pass on mystery of Christ and how to enter into it," Pastor Heaslip explained during a recent interview with the Gazette. Using the Catechism of Christ, as well as other visual aids, materials and Scripture, he hopes to reveal "the full dimension of the faith."

"Those who are interested in what the church will gain a clearer understanding of what we believe and how we live it out," Heaslip added.

The course, offered at no charge, opens Thursday, Sept. 9, 7 p.m., in the St. Patrick School library, and will continue on Thursday evenings for several months.

For more information, contact Heaslip at (308) 345-6734.
