McCOOK, Nebraska -- Richard Douglas Buckley passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at McCook Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was 57 years old.
He was united in marriage to Charlene (Funk) Brusoe on July 4, 2000, at McCook. They made their home in McCook, where Rick was employed as a rig operator in the oil fields until his health prevented him from working.
In his free time, Rick loved scuba diving, sailing, hunting and fishing, and shooting pool. He also enjoyed listening to rock, blues and classical music and reading Stephen King's books. He was an avid Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche fan.
Preceding him in death were his father, Lewis Buckley; maternal and paternal grandparents; nephew, Nathanial Buckley; and his best hunting buddy, "Baron Von Royal II."
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Buckley, of McCook; two daughters, Vanessa and Sheenan Buckley, both of Denver, Colorado; sons, Brandon Brusoe of McCook and Adam Brusoe and wife, Lindsay, of Culbertson; six grandchildren, June, Austin, Jayden and Camron Brusoe, Elyace Buckley, and Karson Mayo; his mother, Delores Buckley of McCook; sisters, Cathy and husband, Dr. Warren Jones, of McCook, Janelle and husband, Jeff Stoller, of Thornton, Colorado, and Tamara Scott of McCook; brothers, David Buckley and wife, Debra, of Minneola, Kansas and Jay Buckley and wife, Monica, of Cambridge; numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. There will be a private family inurnment at a later time.
