'Purple Moon Cookery'

Friday, August 10, 2012

Shellie Winder and her daughters, 18-year-old Racheal and 7-year-old Becka, sort through recipes -- these family and "Julie Child" -- preparing for the get-acquainted open house Monday and Tuesday for Shellie's new "Purple Moon Cookery" in McCook, Nebraska. The Purple Moon will specialize in pre-assembled "frozen dinners, yes, but home-cooked frozen dinners," Shellie smiled, and explained, "We offer the taste of a home-cooked meal with the ease of take-out." Shellie will prepare foods in her new kitchen, package the meals and provide directions for the final preparation. Shellie will also cater meals, off- or on-site, and offers two meeting rooms in a renovated building formerly owned by McCook Public Schools at 1505 N. Highway 83, on the east side of the highway sandwiched between High Plains Radio/KICX and TJ's Family Fun Center. Shellie plans her two-day open house from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. each day, sharing samples of some of her favorite entrees and desserts -- sweet-and-sour chicken, greek stuffed peppers, shredded pork tacos, bruschetta, shortbread cookies and biscotti. Contact Shellie at (308) 345-5055.
