Thursday, July 26, 2012

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Two new custodial positions, and a raise for administrators and adjunct faculty were approved by the Mid-Plains Community College board of governors Wednesday night.

The board also heard a preliminary report that the college area may have set an enrollment record for full-time equivalent students.

Meeting in McCook, the board came out of executive session to increase all full-time and part-time administrator salaries by 2.29 percent, and an increase in the adjunct faculty pay to $650 per credit hour.

Jody Tomanek MPCC area vice-president for Educational Services and Student Development, indicated that while the official FTE audit won't be completed until August, it appears that MPCC has an increase of 8.22 percent over last year and has broken its enrollment record with 1918.98 Full-Time Equivalent students.

A more detailed enrollment report will be released upon the completion of the FTE audit.

In addition to approving new custodial positions for the McCook Community College Events Center and North Platte Community College Health and Science Center, governors approved moving the art department into the science lab areas in North Platte, and convert True Hall in McCook into a physical resources facility, for housing buses and other equipment.

In other business, the board moved to accept the changes made on the following policies at first reading: 4110, 4171, 5000, 5100, 5130, 5141, 5159, 5311, 5371, 6110, 7101, and 7136.

Under the two meeting rule, the board will be able to take action to amend these policies at its August 2012 board meeting.

The board will meet again Aug. 22, in North Platte.
