NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- Great Western Bank on Monday donated $20,000 to Mid-Plains Community College's "Today's Vision...Tomorrow's Reality" fundraising campaign. The funds will be used towards the new Health and Science Center at North Platte Community College and the Events Center at McCook Community College.

"We feel that it is important to give back to the community and we are grateful to be able to assist with these projects," said Leland Poppe, GWB Group President. "The project in North Platte will help us improve the education of our nurses and, ultimately, healthcare in our region. It has far-reaching impacts for the future."

Ryan Purdy, MPCC President, said he is excited about the donation.

"This generous donation adds to the pool of what we've already received," he said. "We do appreciate every dollar anyone gives us and when it's a gift of this magnitude, we really appreciate it."

Work on the projects in McCook and North Platte is nearing completion. MPCC is planning Ribbon Cutting events for both facilities on Wednesday, Aug. 22. The celebration for the MCC Events Center will take place at 10 a.m. followed by a similar celebration that afternoon at 3 p.m. for the new Health and Science Center at NPCC.

Both events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Chuck Salestrom at (308) 535-3781 or salestromc@mpcc.edu.
