Governors to consider Purdy contract

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- Mid-Plains Community College governors may offer new president, Ryan Purdy, a contract following an executive session Wednesday during a regular meeting.

The closed session is toward the end of the agenda, listed for pending litigation, personnel and negotiations.

Purdy was interim president following the resignation of Dr. Michael Chips, who took a similar position in Norfolk.

The board will consider updated Nebraska Community College Association bylaws, and a request to forward to the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, program reviews for the Associate Degree in Nursing, Licensed Practical Nursing, and Emergency Medical Technician -- Paramedic.

Program review follow-ups on Dental Assisting, Graphic Design, HVAC also will be presented by Dr. Judy Tomanek.

Upcoming meetings include a board retreat 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 9 at the Hampton Inn in North Platte, a board meeting 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in McCook; a ribbon cutting tentatively set for the Ogallala Extended Campus Thursday, Aug. 9, and ribbon cuttings 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the McCook Community College Events Center and 3 p.m. at the Health and Science Center in North Platte followed by a board meeting 6:30 p.m. in North Platte, and a public budget and property tax hearing beginning at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in North Platte.
