'Cultivate Healthy Youth' program to receive grant funding

Thursday, June 14, 2012

OMAHA, Nebraska -- Nine nonprofit organizations in Nebraska, including Cambridge Memorial Hospital and committed to improving the health of their communities -- have been awarded a total of $100,000 in wellness grants from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE).

Since 2008, the BCBSNE wellness grants program has contributed $434,000 to support healthy living initiatives across greater Nebraska. Grants are awarded to organizations and programs that demonstrate community-based solutions producing positive health outcomes.

"In offering wellness grants, our vision is to help promote healthy living choices, whether it be exercising regularly, eating nutritious foods or kicking an unhealthy habit," said Rob Trebilcock, BCBSNE's community relations manager. "As a statewide organization, we want to see every Nebraska community get healthier. This program is one step toward making that happen."

The "Cultivate Healthy Youth" program is the recipient of the BCBSNE grant in Cambridge.

BCBSNE representatives will travel the state this summer to visit each of these communities and make check presentations.
