55 years in McCook and counting

Staff and owners of Sehnert's Bakery and Bieroc Cafe celebrate 55 years of business in McCook with the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce and McCook Cordials. The Chamber recognized Sehnert's as a Chamber member and also for the recent remodeling. Renovations include a new wall, tables and granite counters. In accepting the award, Walt Sehnert said when he and his wife, Jean, first started the bakery in McCook, Jean gave it five years to get off the ground. "I'm glad she decided to stick around a little longer," he said. Shown from left are Chamber president-elect Alan Gunther, Walt Sehnert, Jean Sehnert, Gretchen Sehnert, Becca Sehnert, Gabe Sehnert, Rose Hughes, Kellanie Sayler, Angela Dreher, Taci Fawver, Shelly Sehnert. Second row, John Botts, Kelly Wilcox, Eric Warburton, Matt Sehnert, Jerri Barber, Chelsea Wells, Jennifer Swartz, Dana Schoenauer, Becky Waddell and Tim Richards. The Sehnert's have been in the bakery business for three generations, with the Sehnert's Bakery sign, left, coming from the Plainview, Nebraska, bakery owned by Walt's father.
