College president recommendation on meeting agenda

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- Consideration of a negotiated agreement with the Mid-Plains Education Association and recommendation for the hiring of an MPCC president are on the agenda for next week's meeting of the Mid Plains Community College board of governors.

The meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 200 of the North Campus, W.W. Wood Building in North Platte.

The board also will be asked to approve a new Area Events Coordinator position and another as Area Fire Science Coordinator.

The events position would be responsible for planning, promotion, booking and management of MPCC events, as well as management of scheduling and inventory software for college rooms and buildings in the MPCC area.

Governors also will review bids for cardiovascular exercise and weight room equipment for the McCook Community College Events Center.

The Fire Science position proposal is in response to a report delivered to the board last week.

Other business:

* Formal approval of a strategic plan.

* Renewal of the Adult Basic Education Grant.

* A sabbatical request from Dr. Doug Clouatre, North Platte Community College political science instructor.

* Consideration of a $199,900 bid from Dowhower Construction in North Platte for renovation of the McDonald-Belton Theater, and $74,431 from Mid-States School Equipment of Sioux Falls for new theater seats.
